[SketchUp] AURARMS XR-1 Blaster Rifle by MikeAuroralis [SketchUp] AURARMS XR-1 Blaster Rifle by MikeAuroralis
Okay, this really took a while...but it's finally done! :D

This is my new weapon...and this time, it's an energy weapon! :D To be precise, it's some kind of a blaster rifle, I don't know how this would work in real life, but the idea is that when this weapon is fired, some kind of gas from the "tank" in the stock is energized by an energy cell in front of it (with this kind of setup, it would probably have to pass directly "through" the energy cell, but whatever, it's future tech :D ), is turned into plasma and than fired out of the weapon using electromagnets in the barrel. I believe this is the most probable way this kind of weapon would work in real life. It is also equipped with some kind of red dot/optical sight for more precise aiming (There's even a small laser above the barrel which can measure the distance to the point the user is aiming at and display it directly in the scope's reticle), an energy level indicator and an option to choose between several firing modes, including low-power setting for incapacitating the target and two "lethal" fire modes - single shot and full auto. However, the rate of fire is quite low and the weapon overheats quickly, so  it's recommended to use single shot mode in most cases.

I tried to focus more on smoothing and lighting this time, which are definitely better than the last time I made a SketchUp weapon. I still have to learn a lot, however, I'm quite happy with the way it turned out to be...oh, and the lighting effect on the energy level indicator looks cool to me :D

As always, the weapon was created in SketchUp, rendered with Twilight Render and some finishing touches were made in GIMP.
